Pilar Koukol (34), who was born in Vienna, is a graduate of the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna (Mag. iur. 2010 and Dr. iur. 2014) and has been working in the field of White Collar Crime for ten years. She started her career as University Assistant to Prof. Fuchs at the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology of the University of Vienna and gained experience as an Associate at the corporate law firm Binder Grösswang. Pilar has worked abroad at the Austrian Trade Commission in Barcelona (2010) and the Basel Institute on Governance (2012), amongst others. In 2017 she joined PAULITSCH LAW and was admitted to the Austrian Bar as Attorney at Law in 2018. Her main areas of expertise are, among others, Anti-Corruption Law, Compliance-Management and Whistleblowing. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Whistleblowing Working Group of Transparency International – Austrian Chapter.
Pilar Koukol regularly publishes articles, most recently in the international handbook on Anticorruption-Compliance (Handbuch Antikorruptions-Compliance) by Busch/Hoven/Pieth/Rübenstahl (ed.). She is also the author of the monograph Compliance and Criminal Law – Compliance Management-Systems and Criminal Liability (for Omission) in Corporations (Compliance und Strafrecht – Compliance-Management-Systeme und strafrechtliche (Unterlassens-)Haftung in Unternehmen) (LexisNexis 2016). Furthermore, Pilar holds lectures and seminars in the fields of White Collar Crime, Compliance and Criminal Procedural Law.
